As we experience a growing community of migrants from the Spanish speaking countries, we have introduced a new Hispanic congregation to bring together our brothers and sisters to experience our Lord Jesus Christ.
Every Sunday morning Spanish language worship in the chapel at 11:30, at the same time as the English language worship. |
Pastor Israel & Tiara Suarez Family
On July 1st Bishop Matthews appointed Pastor Suarez to start a Hispanic congregation in the “College Park and Langley Park area.
Pastor Israel , working with members of College Park and Mowatt started English lessons on Tuesdays and Thursday evenings in our education classrooms. He began a Thursday worship gathering in the chapel following the classes. Under his leadership we have begun a renewed evangelism outreach in the area around the church, and he is leading our Vacation Bible School in August. He could do none of this without the enthusiastic support of our church members and our youth.
Our efforts are paying off. This Sunday, August 3, Pastor Israel starts Sunday morning Spanish language worship in the chapel at 11:30, at the same time as the English language worship. Also starting this Sunday, we will also be offering children’s Sunday School for both congregations, organized by Pastor Israel’s wife Tiara. Please pray for Tiara and our new teachers: Noriko Maitland, Ran Cui, and Oluwakemi (Kemi) Onyenagubo. And celebrate the renewal, diversity and growth at College Park UMC!
